一、pay的主语必须是人，意思是“支付，付费”，常与for搭配使用，pay (sb.) money for sth.付钱（给某人）买……，比如：
1. My mom paid ten dollars for an oral English book.我妈妈花十美元买了一本英语口语书。
2. My mom paid a bookseller ten dollars for an oral English book.我妈妈支付给书商十美元买了一本英语口语书。
二、spend的主语必须是人，常与on或者in搭配使用，句型一般是sb. spend money/time on sth.或者sb. spend money/time (in) doing sth.，表示某人花金钱或者时间做某事，on后面一般加名词，in后面一般加动名词，in可以省略。例如：
1. I spent more than two hours in reading this book yesterday.我昨天花了两个多小时阅读这本书。
2. My father spends six hours in practising oral English every week.我爸爸每周花六个小时练习英语口语。
3. I spend thousands of dollars in buying English books per year. 我每年花数千美元买英语书。
4. She spent fifty dollars on this doll. 她花了五十美元买了这个洋娃娃。
三、take表示做某事花费多少时间，其主语一般是一件事，常用句型是It takes/ took sb. some time to do sth. 主要强调完成该动作所需要花费的时间。例如：
1. It takes her more than two hours to finish her housework every morning.她每天早上花费两个多小时做家务。
2. It took me four hours to record this video this morning.我今天早上花了四个小时录制了这段视频。
