吉米老师有个朋友今天一大早去做核酸，正排队呢，外国同事问他在哪儿，怎么还没到公司。他就回了句 I'm in the hospital，结果闹笑话了吧，人家非要来医院看看他。
in the hospital 可不能随便说，和吉米老师一起来看看它到底是什么意思吧！
在医院不要说 in the hospital

吉米老师提醒大家，“在医院”千万不能说 in the hospital，也不能说 in hospital。它们都是“在医院’没错，但不仅仅是在医院，而且是在住院哦。
另外，老外一听 in the hospital 就立马要过来，其实还有个原因：
外国人一般看病都是去“诊所” clinic，一般的病诊所都能治好。如果诊所的医生处理不了，就会给他办手续转到大医院 hospital，也就是说需要去 hospital 说明病情已经比较严重了。
hospital 前面到底加不加 the 呢？吉米老师教大家一个小法则：美式英语中 hospital 前面要加 the，英式英语中不用加。

那“在医院”但又不是住院，英语怎么说呢？吉米老师教大家一个表达：at the hospital。如果是在医院上班，或者去医院探病，用这个表达就不会闹笑话啦。
如果是在医院看病，但不用住院的话，那“在医院”还可以说 at the doctor's，the doctor's 就是“诊所”的意思。
Doctors at the hospital are so nice.

有“住院”就有“出院”，不过“出院”如果说成 leave the hospital 的话可能会引起误会哦。
“出院”不止是
leave the hospital
be out of hospital 出院
be released 出院
be discharged /dis'tʃa:dʒd/ 出院
leave the hospital 是“出院”没错，但很容易让人误解哦。万一没住院，只是去了一下医院，那离开医院也能说 leave the hospital 呀~
所以吉米老师不建议大家把“出院”说成 leave the hospital，可以说 be out of hospital，be released 或者 be discharged。
be out of hospital 是固定表达，不会让人误会。release 是“释放”的意思，所以出院可以说 be released from the hospital，也可以直接说 be released。
discharge 表示允许某人离开，所以出院还可以说 be discharged from the hospital，后面的 from the hospital 同样可以省略哦~

不舒服≠uncomfortable

吉米老师教过的很多同学，一听不舒服就说 uncomfortable，其实是不对的。uncomfortable 确实是不舒服，但这种不舒服是鞋太小了，穿着不舒服，沙发太硬了，坐着不舒服，或者是心理上的不自在，跟生病的不舒服完全不同。
生病不舒服可以说 I'm not feeling well 或者 I don't feel good，哪个句子用 well，哪个句子用 good 也要记清楚，很容易混淆哦~
